MENCEA Stream Two New Tracks Online

Reposted from: Bravewords.com

Greek progressive/technical extreme metal band MENCEA will release their new album, Pyrophoric, on March 27th in North America.

According to a press release, “the eight track-long soundtrack of unearthly moods, demonstrates an immensely wide sonic landscape, packing punch and diversity that few bands can match. Most of all, it undoubtedly shows that Mencea belongs to a movement of bands exploring boundaries between extreme metal sub-genres, often morphing into a mix of extreme metal with progressive sensibilities and a non conformist approach to melody as well as storming rhythmic outbursts.”

Tracklisting is as follows:

‘Phosphorus’
‘CCC’
‘Elders’
‘Hounds’
‘Beheading’
‘Pyrophoric’
‘Invocation’
‘The Dead’

Check out the track ‘Phosphorous’ below, and visit the Mencea Facebook page to hear ‘Hounds’.

AVIAN - New Songs Streaming Online

Reposted from: Bravewords.com

US-based power metallers AVIAN check in with the following news on their forthcoming new material:

“We are going to try something a bit different from the norm; instead of releasing our next album all at once, we’re going to release each song individually.

Starting with our new song, ‘Eyes Of Sin’, which is now available, we’ll be releasing a new song digitally every few weeks. Following 3 song releases, we’ll make those songs available on a physical CD EP including bonus tracks exclusive to each EP.

Eventually, once we’re done writing for the Midnight At The Tower sessions, we’ll release a full length album containing all of the songs with full artwork and lyrics and more bonus material.

The reason we have decided to take this different approach is that we want to dedicate as much time as necessary per track instead of rushing to get them all done at once. We believe that this process will enhance and allow each song to flourish and stand up on its own.”

Further details can be found at this location.

Avian lineup:

Brian Hollenbeck - Vocals
Yan Leviathen - Rhythm Guitars / Bass
Steve Stine - Lead Guitars
Dan Cunningham - Drums

Guest musicians on the new material includes:

Jonah Weingarten - Keys
Jaden Adair - Bass

CONFESSOR - Uncontrolled Reissue Due In May; Audio Preview Available

Reposted from: Bravewords.com

Raleigh, North Carolina-based metallers CONFESSOR had made a name for itself by writing unapologetically heavy riffs, with a unique flare for timing changes. The band had created quite a stir by playing all over the southeast and landing two tours in Europe, including the now legendary Gods Of Grind tour with CARCASS and ENTOMBED.

With the release of their debut album, Condemned, the band felt as though their chance was at hand to show the world what they knew, that Confessor was unlike anything else out at the time. Unfortunately, label merging and politics forced Confessor off of the US leg of that famous tour in favor of the latest “new band”. Confessor’s ongoing struggles with their label led to line up changes that seriously altered the band’s trajectory and eventually they disbanded after only a single album was released.

Luckily, over the years Confessor’s controversial, yet pioneering sound became accepted and adored by many in the metal community and in 2004 the band reunited for some festival appearances. They have reunited once again for a special appearance at the Maryland Deathfest in 2012.

Says Divebomb Records: “Uncontrolled is the first time all three Confessor demo tapes have been released officially. These are the demos that helped the band get signed to Earache Records back in 1990 and led to the eventual release of their now ground-breaking, Condemned, debut album. This collection is long overdue and fans have been demanding it for years so we, at Divebomb Records, are happy to oblige them. For the diehards we have unearthed raw archival live footage as part of both an enhanced CD and bonus DVD.”

Jeff Wagner (author of Mean Deviation: Four Decades Of Progressive Metal) has also contributed a brand new essay to the liners. The demos themselves were converted from original reels and/or DAT by The Kitchen Mastering in 2004. Jamie King remastered the entire set in 2012 at his Basement Studios. For the fans, by the fans.

Check out a preview of the track ‘The Secret’ below:

Uncontrolled tracklisting:

‘Collapse Into Despair’
‘Alone’
‘Condemned’
‘Uncontrolled’
‘Prepare Yourself’
‘Suffer’
‘The Secret’
‘Deception’
‘Eve Of Salvation’
‘Uncontrolled’ (Vile Vibes Version)
‘The Secret’ (Metal Massacre X Version)

“Die-Hard” bonus tracks:

‘Words Of Praise’ (Live at Fame City)
‘Addictive Bind’ (Live In Raleigh)

MORBUS CHRON Signs Worldwide Deal With Century Media Records

Reposted from: Bravewords.com

Century Media Records has announced the signing of MORBUS CHRON from Sweden. Often described as a perfect mix between AUTOPSY and CARNAGE, Morbus Chron clearly stands out as one of the most talented and promising bands among all of the new traditional death metal acts that have been popping-up in the scene for over three years now.

Morbus Chron comments: “Always expect the unexpected. Morbus Chron are thrilled to join the ranks of Century Media Records. We know that with greater assistance and sturdier tools, the more clearly we can focus our attention solely on the music. So it is with big smiles that we ink this deal tonight. To keep the momentum going, we’re entering Gutterview Studios in March/April to record our first 10” EP. Expect to have us around for a while.”

Jerry Maréchal, A&R at Century Media Europe comments: “Coming from Sweden without sounding like the 9265465th clone of Left Hand Path ENTOMBED is not a sinecure, to say the least. What Morbus Chron has been achieving for more than three years and their first demo tape is far more impressive as the band manages to merge varied and classic influences ranging from US death metal to Swedish and Euro death metal with their own very personal conceptions, be it musically or aesthetically. The result is an intense and fascinating traditional death metal act. Period.”

As previously mentioned, Morbus Chron will soon record new tracks for a 10” vinyl to be released at their first live appearance in Germany at the Hell’s Pleasure festival July 20th and 21st, in Pölneck, East Germany along with label-mates SONNE ADAM and NECROWRETCH. Later this year, the band will start writing the follow-up to their critically acclaimed first album, entitled Sleepers In The Rift.
