The seventh studio album from German thrash icons NECRONOMICON, entitled Invictus, is out now in North America via Massacre Records.

Having amassed a major cult following in the thrash metal scene through heavy international touring, and through the band’s previous six highly acclaimed albums released since their 1984 formation, the NECRONOMICON of 2012 is undoubtedly a stronger beast than ever before.

Recorded at Arson Music Studio, and mixed and mastered by Achim Köhler (Primal Fear, Sinner, Brainstorm, Headhunter), NECRONOMICON’s seventh album Invictus features over fifty minutes of prime thrash metal, where the band’s individuality and skill in terms of songwriting exceeds all expectations with a full sound and terrific production. The record features guest appearances by Randy Black (ex-Annihilator) and Ben Krahl (Final Kings) and bears cover artwork by Jan Yrlund /Darkgrove Design (Korpiklaani, Impaled Nazarene, Stratovarius, Sirenia).

NECRONOMICON, one of Germany’s longest running thrash metal bands, recently inked a new deal with Massacre Records. The band are putting the finishing touches to their new album, Invictus, which is being produced at the Arsen Music Studios in Breisach and Berlin. Sound guru Achim Köhler (PRIMAL FEAR, BRAINSTORM) is handling the mix and mastering. Invictus is due out on January 27th. Check out the artwork below.

German thrash metallers NECRONOMICON have inked a deal with Massacre Records. The band has been busy writing material for a new album, “Invictus”, which will be produced at the Arsen Music Studios in Breisach and Berlin. Achim Köhler (PRIMAL FEAR, BRAINSTORM) will once again handle the mix and mastering. The CD will feature guest appearances by Randy Black (ex-ANNIHILATOR) and Ben Krahl (FINAL KINGS).

NECRONOMICON last year released a special-edition vinyl of the band’s first album on High Roller Records. The self-titled LP was first made available on CD in 1986, and the vinyl release includes not only the original eight tracks, but also NECRONOMICON’s 1985 “Blind Destruction” demo and two additional tracks that have appeared on different compilations. The double LP comes in a heavy gatefold cover, embossed with the band logo, and with a cardboard lyric insert. It is limited to 666 copies, with the first 100 copies on gold vinyl and including a free woven patch, while the next 200 are on a silver/black “blend” vinyl, and the remaining 366 copies on black vinyl.

Formed in Southern Germany in 1983 by frontman Freddy and then-members Axel and Lala, NECRONOMICON is one of Germany’s longest-running thrash metal bands.
