Norwegian avantgarde metallers BORKNAGAR have recruited Baard Kolstad (ICS VORTEX) as their new drummer.

Kolstad made his recording debut with BORKNAGAR on their cover version of METALLICA’s “My Friend Of Misery”, which was featured on the 20th-anniversary tribute to METALLICA’s self-titled album, available with the September 2011 issue of Germany’s Metal Hammer magazine.

BORKNAGAR’s Øystein G. Brun told Radio Metal in a new interview: “[Baard] is an extremely talented drummer. He is much younger than our old drummer and it’s brilliant.”

BORKNAGAR’s new album, “Urd”, will be released on March 26 in Europe and March 27 in North America via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded with Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (OPETH, PARADISE LOST, KATATONIA) in Örebro, Sweden.

The “Urd” artwork was designed by Brazilian artist Marcelo Vasco, who has not only already worked on BORKNAGAR’s previous “Universal” release but also with artists such as SOULFLY, BELPHEGOR, EINHERJER and KEEP OF KALESSIN.
